Annual Event Donation

Annual Encounter is a 5-day event filled with workshops in Capoeira, Samba, Afro-Brazilian dance, percussion, and batucada.

Sol e Lua annual belt ceremony and encounter is a 5-day event filled with workshops in Capoeira, Samba, Afro-Brazilian dance, percussion, and batucada.  Capoeira is a unique art form that incorporates martial arts, dance, and acrobatics in a captivating exchange between two players.

Samba is a dynamic Brazilian dance that is playful as well as captivating. This unique and lively art form is danced to the exciting beats of Brazilian percussion. Batucada is a percussive ensemble of various instruments that play varying styles of Samba. These varying art forms are Brazilian expressions with African roots.

We will have guest teachers from around the country and abroad that specialize in these various cultural arts that are inherent to Afro-Brazilian culture and expression. It will be 4 days of enrichment and learning with classes for children and adults varying in dance, martial arts, acrobatics, music, and percussion.

This is an event that is open to the public and all skill levels. We will also have performances, a belt ceremony to honor the students training at Sol e Lua, beach time, and a potluck Bar-B-Q offering plenty of opportunities for all to share and enjoy.

We will be offering free classes open to the public and offering sliding scale payment options for those who qualify.
